My equipment is mounted in mulltiple professional audio roll-around
racks for use in fund raisers for both the private school, where my kids attend,
as well as the church we go to. There are two events per year. I like to think
of my system as a glorified home stereo system that can reproduce quality
audio with some PA on the side. I can do this since I am only doing background
music as opposed to rock concerts where only VOLUME counts. Everyone is blown
away with the sound and Dance away!! Bottom Line is I am having fun!!
My original plan was to build a home theater system with my stuff. But I like
the the fun of setting up big systems for a large audiance and play music.
This activity will keep me busy for the next 10 years or more !

I purchased my components in 1978 at a Military Exchange
in Germany while stationed there. I still use this fine state of the art equipment.

Description:
My system is completely rack mounted.
Starting at the top of the rack:
Sanyo Plus T55 - Quartz PLL Memory Synthesizer Stereo Tuner
Sanyo Plus C55 - DC Mosfet Preamplifier with both Mc and MM phono input
Sanyo Plus E55 - Timer/Clock and system Power Controller
Denon DN1000F - Professional CD Player with Pitch and cueing controls.
TASCAM 112 Professional Cassette Deck(also has pitch control).
Electra EQ which is a studio grade piece used mainly to correct older cassette
tapes.
SAE 2201 "Bonjiornoized" 100W Per Channel Stereo Amplifier
Mackie Powered Sub Woofer (partially seen to the right)
I chose the Sanyo Plus series for it's rareity, and because of it's clean
quiet Mosfet design. I have the matching Mosfet amp to this series, but the
fans in the amp make it sound like a jet airplane so I hold it in storage
as a spare.
We mostly play CDs here and the pitch control is in case my wife decides to
play along with her clarinet. The speakers are custom designed and built by
me, featuring an 8" long throw woofer with horn loaded slot port. and a piezio
tweeter. The Monitor and Keyboard and Computer are for playing our 80 gigs
worth of MP3's and to also listen to internet radio feeds (like shoutcast.com).
This system really does kick some major duty ass. It's superbly clean and
quiet, delivers warm distortion free play and can pump out major wattage for
parties. James Bonjiorno rebuilt the 2201 for me and it sounds better than
when I purchased it new.

P500 Pro Series Power Amp (The big 1,000 watt back-breaker)
My main speaker system is a modified Phase Linear Andromeda-3 with Paradigm Mini-Monitors in the rear. An additional pair of Mini-Monitors is used as a "quazi" center channel when watching movies. They are not when listening to music. Both sets of Mini-Monitors are powered by Phase Linear 400 power amps. When everything is running (movies) those "dinosaur Steps" almost hurt you. Those concusion grenades in the movie "The Negotiator" do hurt!!
My listening room and the system have been "tuned" to each other. I can only say that the sound that this system produces will hold it's own against just about anything else out there. The sound is very BIG, it plays very CLEAN, it plays very OPEN it plays very TRANSPARENT, and it will play VERY LOUD if required to do so. It totally amazes most people who listen to it.
I purchased the SAE components in one direct purchase from
S.A.E.(Sometimes it does pay to know someone). I have enjoyed them from the
day I brought them home and wired everything together. The big P500 really
made the Andromeda system come to life. I have a entire wall of sound stage,
with localization of intruments and voices, etc. that are about as close to
being there as one could get. The sub will play anything that it is given.
It is rated down to 24 Hz. but it will decidedly play lower than that without
bottoming out, or sounding anything other than tight and solid.
