Attach the red wire at the free end of the cable to the center terminal of the upper set of terminals
(farthest from the chassis plate) on the volume potentiometer and solder this connection.

Attach the black wire to the upper terminal of the potentiometer that is nearest the power switch.
Do not solder this connection. Leave the drain wire hanging free for now.
